Finally got enough sleep to remember. In the event that I do not kill Giles body and he returns to it seek D'vana Tendi. Usually in infirmary. Comes from space future. Very bright and welcoming. Has capacity to painlessly heal without scars. Seems lonely. Wants to work. Probably best option to avoid making a painful return worse.

Ever since The Price is Right, perhaps even longer than that – the beginning of the month, maybe – Giles has taken note of Oswald's preoccupation, it's subtle, but noticeable enough. He's been waiting for Oswald to say something on it, under the assumption that he will when he's ready, but the more time passes the less likely that seems.

So on a quiet afternoon, Giles's curiousity wins out over continued patience.

"Will you tell me what's on your mind, my love?"

Ossie- @ wedding now, seating is being set up. people have done their best to dress up for this thing and I tell you, it's wild to see people in actual suits and nice dresses beside the finest Tommy Bahama has to offer. The dress code was 'please wear clothes' and that has definitely been followed there sure are clothes here. There's honest to god a man in a maxi dress that still stops at his thighs and he's got pants on under that. look im not judging I'm just saying I feel much less worried that I underdressed for this. IDK if I can attach pictures but I'm taking 'em anyway so you can see for yourself later

A note is left inside. It reads:

Oswald, I still cannot access the cottage, and I am concerned about what this means, please let me know when you receive this. Giles

[ The third day there are no texts, for Giles spends the whole day as a cat. Napping in the library, curled up on the chair that Ossie used when he took up the role of Blackbird Bishop.

The fourth day the concern reaches a fever pitch, and the texts come spread mere hours apart and getting more frequent as they go on ]

Oswald, Have you changed the knock? Is that the reason I cannot enter? I can come up with only one other plausible explanation for my being locked out, and it does not bare thinking about. Giles

Ossie, please, if you receive this and are able, please respond.

[.....]

My love, I need to know that you are safe.

[....]

If you need some time alone I understand, you know I understand that my love, and I would give you all the time in the world if you need it. Just please, please, tell me that you are safe and well.

[ The fifth day there are no texts again, for there is only so long he can spend staring at the little screen before his eyes begin to blur and his head begins to hurt.

They start alternating after that, one day of frequent short and frantic messages, one day of near silence, rinse and repeat.

Then, on the first of April, the pattern changes. Only one text, sent at around 8pm every single day without fail. Composed in the little journal he keeps in his pocket — which is starting to fill up, and will need to be replaced soon, especially if this goes on for much longer — and then painstakingly copied over into his phone ]

My beloved Oswald, [ it begins, and what follows is an account of his day. The people he saw, and if any of them asked after Ossie; the current state of the ship, such as the fact that the cracks have disappeared and speculation on what that might mean; what he has tried that day to regain access to the cottage; things that he noted throughout the day that made him think of Ossie; and, very very occasionally, a short poem he has written.
Naturally all interspersed with as many ways as he can find to express his love for Ossie, and, finally, signed off ]

Just a heads up, there’s a new passenger here named Demona. Blue skin, big bat wings, red hair, turns to a statue during the day. She almost immediately tried to commit murder because someone taped paper pigeons to her as a statue and is pretty literally genocidal towards humans. I had to pin her down to get her to stop. So. Watch out for that.

One evening a box appears on the bed. The sort that one might receive from Sundries. It's just slightly open, as if to invite any curious party to peek at its contents.

Inside is very definitely a maid outfit (of the modern costume variety, not a real uniform ~~to Giles's mild annoyance~~) which, if Ossie cares to investigate, appears to be sized to fit him perfectly.

Phil lounges at the cocktail bar--here, rather than Bobby B's, just for a bit of variety. He looks nicely done up himself, although the general bar he maintains means there isn't much more going on than his hair and feathers all being neater than usual.

But Ossie is here, and Phil's mantle kicks up a cool and playful breeze. He raises the Manhattan he's poured himself in greeting. "Shall I mix you anything? I was a deft hand at Punxsutawney's bar, if I do say so myself."
