Age: 115 if you’re going chronologically, 29 in years he’s actually lived.

History:
Born to a rich family in Coventry in 1907, and in spite of his mother’s death during his teenage years, Oswald’s life was one of comfort and leisure. As a child he was not academically gifted, nor especially athletic, amusing himself mostly with learning the piano and collecting wildflowers for his collection. He had a brief stint at Oxford in attempt to learn botany, but was put off by the amount of studying involved, so instead spent his 20’s in between parties, social gatherings, family gatherings, and visiting his older sister and beloved nephews. His Aunt Eugenie assigned him an upright fellow named Giles as a valet somewhere along the way, who he quickly grew fond of- despite his many opinions on Oswald’s sartorial choices. Then in 1931, Oswald was invited to a party by a handsome stranger, and his world changed.

Oswald’s durance was one not too far removed from the world he already lived in. A mockery of upper-class socialite life, the True Fae in charge, the Master Of The House, demanded perfection from everyone in his domain; from the people he’d turned to topiaries outside, to the servants downstairs, to his dinner guests, and of course, the people turned to livestock, slaughtered for consumption. It’s impossible to tell how long Oswald was kept there, even the odd time of Arcadia was made stranger by the forced consumption of alcohol, magic addling, and the dissociation necessary to survive such an environment. Eventually Oswald managed to escape downstairs to find Giles, enduring a mirror of his own torment upstairs. It was only through their cooperation did they manage to escape, emerging back into the real world once again.

Only the real world had changed from how they remembered it. Everything was strange and new, and their lives had gone on without them. The ‘fetch’ that the True Fae had left behind had lived Oswald’s life for him, marrying a nice girl, settling down, and dying. Cut loose from the expectations of his family, Oswald and Giles lived for a while on the charity of the Winter court, until Oswald was able to scam himself back into his own fortune, posing as an illegitimate grandchild from a secret mistress whose silence needed to be bought. In the years since Oswald has been teaching piano, ingratiating himself back into high society, and pining for the man he escaped from Arcadia with, the only part of his old life that still remains.



Powers/Abilities: As a Changeling, Oswald has the ability to sense emotions linked to his court (desire, for Spring), and to magically bind any agreement made with him. On top of this, his contracts are as follows;

Cupid’s arrow: learn the deepest desire of a target
Shared burden: bleed to heal a target. The damage taken from this contract cannot be healed except by the progression of time, and healing a mortal wound will kill the user.
Sight of Truth and Lies: if the user remains honest, gain the ability to identify lies.
Gift of Warm Breath: relieve a target of exhaustion and some superficial damage, like bruises or small cuts, by feeding them a meal.
Dance of the toys: magically animate an object.
The Royal Court: Halt all violence at a gathering, including arguments and insults. Lasts until the end of the thread.

Additionally, Oswald has a cottage in a pocket-dimension that can be accessed with a particular knock from any doorway. It’s mostly just a regular house with basic furnishings, but it can magically produce mundane items in appropriate places, like ingredients in the pantry and fresh linen in the cupboard. Any visitors will exit through the same door as they entered.
Finally, Oswald has a magical compulsion for hospitality. When someone enters a space that Oswald has ownership over for the first time and asks for something, Oswald must do his best to cater for reasonable requests from them for a day and a night. This includes a place to sleep, food, drink, and small tasks like fetching items.

Socialite: good manners, speaking well, knowing which fork is for what thing, defusing arguments, passive aggression

Suppressions: There is so much repressed homosexuality in this boy. Additionally he deals with existential terror through the pursuit of lovely things, be it people or nice suits or good food.


Greatest Fear: Well, his biggest fear is going back to Arcadia. But since that’s happened for all intents and purposes, his next greatest fear is being found lacking, imperfection and coarseness.


Greatest Desire: Giles, mostly, and a quiet place for them both to be together.


Greatest Regret: Being a typical unthinking uncaring rich twat before he was taken.
