You mean he doesn't write his own material? What a hack. But as I said, I have my health and Giles back, I'm perfectly fine. If you have other people and yourself to attend to, please attend to them first.
I highly doubt that you are fine but I confess I also struggle to see any way I could really help. If Giles is doing poorly I can hardly intrude on his space and just make the matter worse. Still. If you need anything in the coming days please do not hesitate to ask. Best of luck Ossie. My fiercest wishes for your partner.
I'd advise you to wait before making any hasty decisions with the key. Giles will let you know what he wants done with it when he's ready; for now, as the one of us with his mental faculties mostly intact, I charge you to keep it somewhere safe.
None of this was your fault, Sharky. I appreciate the condolences, but apologies are not needed. Give us some time, and everything will amend itself, I'm sure of it.
Oh dear I shall have to put on a one-man revue in order to set the record straight I'm both terribly funny and a wonderful actor.
I'm safe and whole and well. Do let me know when you're feeling up to company, I'll bring a time-appropriate meal and some tea around. What a bally awful mess, all of it.
Dimitri hiccups, sniffles, wipes his eyes. Without even being present, Ossie has this wonderful way of making him feel safe -- not 'safe' in the sense of 'we can obliterate whatever threatens us,' but safe, in the sense of 'the world is good, and we'll be okay.' It's profoundly un-Faerghan. Dimitri's never known anything so comforting.
Not a second of it As far as he's concerned, the entire month of October may as well not have happened. Now, bear in mind that... the stress of it all has shaken him substantially. He appears to be having some troubles with his memory. I know I don't need to ask but please do be gentle with him if you come across him; this sort of thing happens with our kind from time to time. But it is truly Giles, I'm certain of it.
He... forgot about our relationship, briefly. Not me entirely, but that we ever commenced the relationship. Any other lapses or gaps in his memory, I have yet to come across.
As for the nastiness with Ginger; you have my sincerest heartfelt thanks. I am sorry that it was you, but I'm sure that Giles would also be terribly grateful for your aid in returning him to himself. On that note; do you want me to tell him, or are we keeping that information between us?
Dimitri knows what he did was necessary. He's still struggling to see it as good. But he can cling to that reassurance, and maybe eventually it'll sink in.
Its up to yupo You I dont want to casure cause him more pain But if you thikn it eould help or taht he wouldnt mind Indnot mind if you tel him Im not good at kepeing sercrest Secrets
He'll recover. As I said, this isn't uncommon for our kind. The rigors and stresses of the fairest lands often do things to ones mind, but in equal parts it is both poison and antidote. Though he has suffered damage to his mind, the manner in which our minds fracture allow us to put ourselves back together with time and effort. As I have said, Giles will be fine. I'm taking care of him.
I'll let him know. I'm certain he'll be grateful for the service you did to him, and I expect he'll want to assure you of your blamelessness himself.
The offer is deeply appreciated. You're a wonderful young man and I do hope you realize it. Whenever you're feeling up to it, pop round and say hello to Giles, that will help him beyond measure. Thank you, Dimitri.
It's heartening to hear that, that Dimitri doesn't just want to fight. It sets Ossie's heart at ease.
Ever since The Price is Right, perhaps even longer than that – the beginning of the month, maybe – Giles has taken note of Oswald's preoccupation, it's subtle, but noticeable enough. He's been waiting for Oswald to say something on it, under the assumption that he will when he's ready, but the more time passes the less likely that seems.
So on a quiet afternoon, Giles's curiousity wins out over continued patience.
"Mmm?" He asks, looking up from his book. One of the many romance novels on offer in the ship's library, some rot set in the regency. Bit of light reading.
"Oh, you know, this and that. Not just any one thing. It's just-"
A hand goes up, fingers limp and curled as it sort of rests in the air while he gathers his thoughts.
"Do you ever hear one thing, then another, and your mind won't stop banging the two ruddy things together in your grey matter?"
"It has been known to happen," Giles replies with a wry smile, his own book already well and truly cast aside in favour of keeping a quizzical eye trained on Ossie "What is it?"
@ wedding now, seating is being set up. people have done their best to dress up for this thing and I tell you, it's wild to see people in actual suits and nice dresses beside the finest Tommy Bahama has to offer. The dress code was 'please wear clothes' and that has definitely been followed there sure are clothes here. There's honest to god a man in a maxi dress that still stops at his thighs and he's got pants on under that. look im not judging I'm just saying I feel much less worried that I underdressed for this. IDK if I can attach pictures but I'm taking 'em anyway so you can see for yourself later
Wedding party are in nice outfits, Johnny's got a charcoal suit, his pal walking him down the aisle is in a black tux and looking fine 👌, the nerdy husband-to-be has a suit with some nice, idk embroidery detail?? Whatever it is it's subtle enough that you only see it when the light hits it, which is neat. The guy I presume is Watson has some kind of old british military uniform, sword included. The decor is balancing out the bright red so it doesn't stick out TOO much but I took too many portraits of too many people from that era proud of their service to speak any more highly than this about it, sorry.
OKay now I guess we're just waiting for the ceremony to start??? idk anyone in particular you want an update on while we wait?
Thank you kindly for the updates It is a pity both that the Captain is in attendance and that I despise weddings In spite of them containing all of my favourite things; attractive people in formal dress, dancing, and excessive consumption of food and drink I'd ask you to point out if anyone in particular is especially fetching in their wedding outfits but considering your opinion on Crichton I don't think you're the best judge of it Best be safe and take pictures of everyone over the age of twenty one just in case
He gestures with the hand, "has your name always been Ernest?"
Which is a daft question, but often he finds that his mind won't cooperate until he gets the stupid questions out of the way first.
"That- Ginger, he said something to me just before he-" another gesture, "something about- look, it just occurred to me that we went nearly a hundred years without me knowing your ruddy given name, and Ginger said that... you made a name for your friends and loved ones to call you. Allegedly. You recall that many of the facts don't line up, and-"
Another gesture.
"You know what, don't worry about it, I'm sure I'm just being silly."
Also hey now I can't help it if I keep my eyes above the collarbone! But if I see anyone packing as much heat as Crichton I'll let you know. There's a guy here in a sweater that's not leaving much to the imagination, but he looks very hopelessly awkward next to a guy who might be only muscles, but like, the gamey kind of muscular, and that guy is wearing a maxi dress like he killed and skinned a bahamanal for it or something so I'm gonna say that might be out of bounds for you? Or not I'm not the game warden on this ship. IDK I'll take the safari pics and you can grade them later.
Speaking of which Captain's shown up now (looks same as always), he has glasses aaaaaand huh
I think he's muslim? who'd have thought. I've only ever photographed for WASPs and catholics, couldn't tell you how good of a job he's doing.
Vow time, I'm not transcribing it Cap's covering his ears and I'm feeling that.
[Time passes between reports.]
I successfully infiltrated the reception and catering update: a lot of it looks snatched from the buffet which is FINe i guess the buffet here is better than any real buffets I've been to, but I'm sure you could get the restaurant ghosts to whip up something fresh in bulk if you ordered right. That said there's sushi here so maybe they did that too, whomst am I to judge. There's lots of chocolate and stuff, if you want I could make you and Giles some plates to bring back so it feels like you got pilfered wedding souvenirs wait hold up

[it's incredibly hard who to cheer 'get it' to, the guy making out with the entity who made the pocket dimension or the one smooching the skeleton, both are weird enough to be an enviable win in the circles April's used to. So they abstain for now, especially since despite the excitement, they're on some level still aware of why Ossie isn't attending, so tact and so on.]
